BIOL 310 - Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Geographic information systems (GIS) have become one of the most important computer software tools used in science, social science, business, and industry. This course will introduce you to the basic concepts of GIS, cartography, global positioning systems (GPS), and remote sensing imagery. In the process, you will gain marketable experience using ArcGIS for Desktop software. Six hours of lecture and two three-hour laboratories per week.
Prerequisite(s): IS 101 and Sophomore standing Credits: 4 hours
