CHEM 101 - General Chemistry I Emphasizes the foundational principles, theories, laws of chemistry; connections are made to the life sciences and interdisciplinary ideas. Topics include tools of quantitative chemistry, matter, atomic, and molecular structure, bonding, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, acids and bases, energy, and gases and their properties. The laboratory provides an active learning environment for students to strengthen their understanding of chemistry and develop problem-solving skills through data collection and analysis. Six hours of lecture and two three-hour laboratories per week.
