Educational Outcomes

Teacher education candidates who complete the degree requirements in education will:

  1. Know the content appropriate to their teaching specialty.
  2. Understand how children develop and how they learn through an integrated curriculum and a variety of age-appropriate instructional strategies.
  3. Use a variety of methods to assess students, both formative and summative, to monitor growth, evaluate students, and to inform instruction.
  4. Model 21st century skills and content, including technology and critical thinking, and integrate them into instruction.
  5. Demonstrate leadership in the classroom, in the school, and in the teaching profession.
  6. Embrace diversity in the school community and world, plan instruction accordingly, use materials to counteract stereotypes and maintain a learning environment that conveys high expectations of every student.
  7. Understand the importance of collaboration with parents, educators and other professionals to meet the needs of students.
  8. Demonstrate the ability to engage in scholarly inquiry and professional opportunities.
