Educational Outcomes
Teacher education candidates who complete the degree requirements in education will:
- Know the content appropriate to their teaching specialty.
- Understand how children develop and how they learn through an integrated curriculum and a variety of age-appropriate instructional strategies.
- Use a variety of methods to assess students, both formative and summative, to monitor growth, evaluate students, and to inform instruction.
- Model 21st century skills and content, including technology and critical thinking, and integrate them into instruction.
- Demonstrate leadership in the classroom, in the school, and in the teaching profession.
- Embrace diversity in the school community and world, plan instruction accordingly, use materials to counteract stereotypes and maintain a learning environment that conveys high expectations of every student.
- Understand the importance of collaboration with parents, educators and other professionals to meet the needs of students.
- Demonstrate the ability to engage in scholarly inquiry and professional opportunities.
