Vision Statement
The School of Business at Chowan University envisions a business community of talented and ethical individuals with professional competencies enabling them to work cooperatively to compete successfully in the global marketplace.
Mission Statement
The mission of the School of Business is to develop the ethical business leaders of tomorrow. Building upon the strength of our Christian heritage, we empower our students by guiding them in the mastery of business theories, organizational skills, technical proficiencies, and critical analyses that prepare them for careers in the rapidly changing business world.
Educational Outcomes
- Students completing the degree program in Business Administration will demonstrate technical proficiency in information systems; mastery of the economic theories of business; mastery of the fundamentals of accounting, management and marketing.
- Students completing the degree program in Business Administration will demonstrate mastery of critical thinking skills to analyze and create solutions for issues arising in the changing business environment.
- Students completing the degree program in Business Administration will communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Students completing the degree program in Business Administration will demonstrate in-depth mastery of their areas of concentration.
- Students completing the degree program in Business Administration will be prepared to assume professional positions within their area of concentration, or a closely related field. They will be prepared also to continue their education at the graduate or professional level, if they so choose.
Admission Policies and Requirements
Admission to the School of Business
Following the successful completion of the following courses, students must submit a formal application to the Dean of the School of Business and satisfy the following admission requirements prior to being eligible to take School of Business courses at the 300 level or higher:
- Successfully complete a minimum of 60 credit hours.
- GPA of 2.0 or better on all University work completed to date.
- Completion of the following School of Business core courses with a grade of C or better:
- Written recommendation from major advisor and one additional faculty member.
- Successful interview with the School of Business Admissions Committee.
- A grade of C or better in ENGL 101 and ENGL 102 .
The members of the School of Business Admissions Committee render the final admission decision.
Admission To Minor
Admission to minors within the School of Business requires approval of the Dean of the School of Business.
