Mission Statement

The mission of the Department of Criminal Justice is to provide excellent educational opportunities for a diverse student population in the context of a religious-oriented institution. The department provides student-centered learning in a nurturing environment, integrating teaching and service. The department also offers relevant high quality courses that prepare students for careers and lifelong learning in the field of criminal justice. The department is grounded in the liberal arts and sciences and is focused on public service professions that meet the academic and professional needs of its students.

Educational Outcomes

Students will demonstrate a mastery of skills and knowledge in the areas of criminal justice, criminal delinquent processes, criminology, law enforcement, law adjudication, and corrections.
Students will demonstrate the ability to evaluate the moral and ethical issues that intersect with the field of criminal justice.
Students will demonstrate the ability to think critically and communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, about the fundamental issues in criminal justice.
Students will have a broad academic background necessary for graduate study or for careers in the field of criminal justice.
