Mission Statement

The Department of Psychology has a mission to facilitate the understanding of the fundamentals of human behavior and experience, to teach the fundamentals of the scientific method, to develop a recognition of the diversity of behavior and to develop the ability to make informed judgments that strengthen our contribution to society.

Educational Outcomes

Graduates will demonstrate knowledge of the fundamental concepts, theories, and principles of psychology.
Graduates will demonstrate a familiarity with the basic academic research techniques of searching, summarizing and critically analyzing specific content areas of interest and be able to communicate effectively in a format appropriate to the field.
Graduates will be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in a format appropriate to the field.
Graduates will be able to apply their psychological knowledge and skills to create opportunities for occupational or educational growth.
