HIST 310 - Constitutional History The Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of the land and the foundation of the U.S. system of government, but it has also been a contested field of conflict between clashing visions of politics and society. This course explores the historical origins and evolving interpretations of the Constitution, focusing on major events, popular movements, and conflicts that have shaped the way Americans govern themselves. Students in the course will apply critical analysis to examine significant constitutional problems and communicate about their relevance to historical change and contemporary issues.
