Educational Outcomes

Graduates will:

Demonstrate an understanding of mathematical concepts, processes, symbolism, and applications.
Demonstrate general reasoning and writing abilities as well as critical and creative thinking processes.
Understand the logical and sequential nature of mathematics, its structure and interrelationships, and the universality of its contributions to culture.
Have a background in mathematics sufficient to keep doors open to future graduate education and career choices.
Demonstrate an appreciation of the beauty of mathematics and its cultural significance as well as a positive attitude toward the study of mathematics.
Have developed an awareness of the need and the disposition for continued learning in the field of mathematics and the teaching of mathematics.
Have mastered the methods, materials, and equipment specifically related to teaching mathematics in a culturally pluralistic classroom and in a technology oriented society.
Possess depth of knowledge in those areas of mathematics having maximum relevance to the secondary curriculum and make the relevant connections between college mathematics and the mathematics taught in the secondary school.
